Aden, NewsYemen:

An international newspaper revealed, on Tuesday, the preparations of the Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, to form a so-called "Supreme Economic Council".

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper said that the council's goal is to complete imposing full control over the remaining components of the private commercial and economic sector in the group's controlled cities and areas.

The tasks of managing that council were entrusted in advance to the Houthi leadership, who is dynastic close to the militia leader called Muhammad Ahmed Al-Hashemi, who impersonated the deputy minister of industry and trade in the government of the putschists that is not internationally recognized, according to the sources.

It said that the Iranian arm had exerted great pressure, which is still being exercised by the Al-Houthi leader, against the leaders of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital, Sana'a, in order to persuade them to accept partnership with the militias and to engage, even in a sham, with that council.

Its sources confirmed that the militias monitored all the financial assets and properties of businessmen in Sana’a, and all the financial operations that were carried out that year in preparation for seizing them in case they refused to carry out orders to provide funds, after the militias obligated and at gunpoint the managers of banks and banking institutions that are still  It works in Sana'a, providing daily statements about the financial operations that take place every day.

Chamber of Commerce employees indicated that the aim of forming the council is not as claimed by the group in order to strengthen the partnership between it and the private sector, but rather to know and track all the activities of groups and commercial houses operating within the cities under its control.  They said: Talking about the establishment of a Houthi economic council is basically a continuation of the group's desperate plans and efforts to tighten the screws on the members of that important sector, leading to the imposition of complete control over it.

In continuation of the abuses of the coup plotters and their repeated crimes against private sector employees, a Yemeni businessman complained two days ago of being subjected to a campaign of brutality and illegal confiscation of his money, property and companies.

Local reports quoted businessman Muhammad Al-Haifi as saying that leaders in the group (whom he did not name) had recently burgled his house, and they are currently pressing to force him to give up his companies and the rest of his property.  Al-Haifi confirmed that he is in the capital, Sanaa, and has not left.  He said that the group justified its crimes by accusing him of several accusations, which he described as "spurious", including that he is a fugitive outside the country.

A number of Al-Haifi businessman employees recently transmitted photos and clips in which the latter appears, calling for an end to all abuse and looting crimes against which he is exposed by Houthi influencers.

According to the assurances of some employees and based on a ruling issued by a Houthi court, the group has placed all of al-Haifi’s property at the disposal of what it calls the “judicial guard,” a body it established some time ago for this type of looting that is frequently practiced against its opponents.
