Sana'a, NewsYemen:

The Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - has prevented the transfer of more than 100,000 Yemeni riyals for people coming from the liberated governorates to Sanaa and its neighboring governorates, in an economic measure that exacerbates the suffering of Yemenis and reinforces the deterioration of the value of the local currency and its catastrophic repercussions.

In a circular to the Central Bank in Sana’a, which is under the control of the Houthi coup militia, the bank allowed the transfer of any sums of money from foreign currencies, and the Houthi militia considered the local currency a denomination of one thousand riyals, whose serial number begins without the letter “A” and is written on it in 1438 AH-2017, it considered it a counterfeit currency warning  From transferred to Sana'a and the neighboring provinces.

The Houthi circular stated: "The maximum permissible transfer of legal Yemeni currency is only (100,000) one hundred thousand riyals per person, and any amount of foreign currency is allowed."

The circular promised to take legal measures against violators "in accordance with the maximum penalties prescribed in the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law and other applicable laws."
