An engineer working in Masam's demining team was seriously injured, on Wednesday, in the explosion of a Houthi landmine in Al-Wazeyah district.

Hassan al-Jahouri, the supervisor of Masam's mine team, told NewsYemen that a Houthi mine exploded in Rajeh al-Shawah while he was carrying out a demining mission within Masam's team in al-Wazia, describing his condition as serious.

He added that Al-Shawah, aged about 42, had his right foot amputated and his hand burned, while he was injured by shrapnel in different parts of his body.

He added that the injured was transferred to the city of Taiz, to receive treatment in one of its hospitals, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Masam has 16 demining teams working in various districts of the West Coast, in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.

The program seeks to clear the directorates of the West Coast, which the Houthi militia has turned into the largest minefield, by planting about two million mines, according to expert estimates.
