Aden, NewsYemen:

The Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, announced, on Sunday, the start of a qualitative military operation with strong air strikes against the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen.

The coalition stated that the military operation targets the Houthi capabilities in the occupied capital Sanaa and a number of other Yemeni governorates.

The coalition stressed that "civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia are a red line," adding: "We will hold accountable terrorist leaders who try to target civilians and civilian objects."

He explained that the specific operation he launched "is in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules."

The coalition said that the reality on the ground and the victories of the Yemeni army and the tribes in Marib explains the pace of terrorist escalation by the militia. He added that removing the Houthis from the list of terrorist groups was interpreted in a hostile way by the militia.

The coalition had confirmed, at an earlier time, that booby-trapped drones were launched by the Houthi militia in an attempt to target civilians and civilian objects in a systematic and deliberate manner, and a number of other aircraft are being monitored.

The coalition added, "We take operational measures to protect civilians and civilian objects in accordance with international humanitarian law."
