Terrorism classification isolates Houthi militia community

Sana'a, Newsymen, Special:

If the looting of our pensions (salaries of state employees) is not terrorism, what is terrorism? Hajj Saleh, a 50-year-old resident of the capital Sanaa, comments after a car of the Houthi militia with loudspeakers calling on citizens to rally in a demonstration against america's designation of the Houthi group as a terrorist organization.

On the sidewalk of a public street, Hajj Saleh sits meditating on a huge propaganda image posted in the middle of the street in the capital Sanaa on Monday (January 25th) of an Iranian leader killed in a U.S. air raid in Baghdad, Iraq, Qassem Soleimani.

"We are all against terrorism in all its forms and types, and the salary cuts are the most severe type of terrorism," he whispered in a brief comment with political connotations: "This is a settling of accounts between Iran and America."

Since this morning, cars of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, with loudspeakers on board the streets, markets, public squares and residential neighborhoods, have been begging citizens to participate in demonstrations under loose headings and national/Yemeni names, with the aim of demonstrating a popular rejection of the characterization of the Houthi militia as a terrorist group.

Al-Houthi militias directed their beneficiaries in offices, government institutions, local councils, principals, school administrators, education departments, and the mayors of the neighborhoods to benefit from the militia, mobilizing as many citizens, school students and staff as possible in today's marches.

In the past few days, preachers loyal to the group have launched intense calls following prayers in mosques, including misleading public opinion, considering the US classification of Houthi militia as a terrorist organization that allegedly means Yemen.

According to political sources in Sana'a who spoke to Newsymen, al-Houthi militia is in an unprecedented state of confusion following the State Department's decision to include the group among terrorist organizations.

These sources believe that the decision would contribute to the community isolation of the group provided that the internationally recognized legitimate government intervenes by providing salaries to state employees in Sana'a and the provinces under the control of the Houthi coup militia.
