Journalist Bassam Al-Qahtani revealed that officials in the legitimate government objected to classifying the Houthi group as a terrorist movement.
Al-Qahtani said, in a tweet on Twitter, that those who object to classifying the Houthi group as a terrorist movement are officials and ministers in the legitimate government, indicating that they do not want to classify it as a terrorist movement, on the pretext that this would impede the delivery of aid to the needy.
Al-Qahtani said that this is a big game played by the legitimacy whose families are in Houthi areas and are fighting in the ranks of the Houthis, as he said.
Last week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the Houthi group was classified as a special interest or (special concern) entity, and it was not classified as a terrorist group, amid Yemeni calls to classify it as a terrorist movement.
