On the morning of Saturday, December 12, the courtroom north of Al-Amanah in Sana'a was on a date with a new chapter of the barbaric chapters of the Houthi militia and its officials , with a new barbaric attack on a Yemeni citizen who was summoned by the court to testify in a case pending before it.

According to eyewitnesses, they spoke to (NewsYemen), as the Houthi leader, who belongs to the Al-Saqqaf family, refused to implement the judge’s order to enter prison as a discipline after the attack (slapping) the witness (M., M. Al-Wasabi), and he entered into a fight with the court guard.

Dozens of residents of Wassab district in Dhamar governorate considered the attack on the witness, and in full view of the prosecution, the judiciary and the public, an assault on the judiciary and a threat to distort the path of justice, "the only hope that the Yemeni people have remained attached to."

In a statement to them, the people of Wassab said that they sensed the danger of attacking the prestige of the judiciary and the witnesses of justice, some of which witnessed a courtroom north of the Municipality, on Saturday 12-12-2020 "by some breaches of security and social peace from the Al-Saqqaf family who repeatedly attacked the prosecution witnesses."

They considered this to be a "rebellion against the state and the law and an obstruction to the achievement of justice, and a danger threatening the lives of justice witnesses, and violating the dignity and prestige of the judiciary that establishes some barbarism of the Saqqaf family to break the prestige and justice of the state."

They announced the opening of the door for donations and the assignment of a legal lawyer to follow up the case, "ensuring the protection of the assaulted judiciary from the barbarism of the aggressors, and taking action to stop this reckless method, holding the attackers accountable under the umbrella of the law on the one hand, and forming peaceful civil pressure that triumphs in the weakness of the judiciary and witnesses who are attacked on the other side."

Commenting on the incident, Muhammad al-Barid, the human rights coordinator at Wassab al-Saffel District, believes that whoever slapped the witness in front of the judge, “wanted to say to the witnesses and the citizens, the judges will not protect you and they will stand helpless in front of my influence and my control.

He added on the (Sada and Saab) Facebook page: "This is what we should not allow. We must stand with the judiciary as much as we can, as it is our only hope to achieve justice and protect the vulnerable."
