The Islah Party - the Brotherhood's organization in Yemen - failed to mobilize citizens and leaders, on Monday morning, to commemorate the first anniversary of his assassination, Major General Adnan Al-Hammadi, in the Al-Maafer district, south of Taiz Governorate, in the center of the country.
Eyewitnesses told (NewsYemen) that the Brotherhood, represented by the Hammoud Al-Mikhlafi Foundation, failed miserably to mobilize citizens and prominent leaders, whether political, military, security or social, to attend an event commemorating his assassination, Adnan Al-Hammadi.
The attendance was limited to the armed Hammoud al-Mikhlafi militia, unknown Brotherhood leaders, and citizens who paid them from five thousand riyals in exchange for participation in the event that was held in the Al-Sunna area in the Al-Maafer district.
According to witnesses, the event was lackluster due to the widespread public and official boycott, and the most prominent advocates and organizers of it, the first of whom was Zia al-Haq Al-Ahdal, did not attend, and this failure ignited a dispute between the organizers and those charged with mobilizing, and mobilization expenses alone amounted to eight million riyals.
The failure of the Brotherhood mobilization for the event, weeks after their preparations for it, is a new protest message expressing the reality of the pre-political societal discontent in Al-Hajriyah towards the Brotherhood organization that planned, executed and financed the assassination of Major General Adnan Al-Hammadi, and after a year they appeared to wash from the man’s blood by commemorating the memory of their crime.
