Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

Cases of disease with symptoms of the new Corona virus, COVID-19, are increasing in Sana'a and the neighboring governorates, in light of the Houthi militia's continued concealment of the extent of the spread of the epidemic and the number of its victims.

Sources working in the health sector in Sanaa revealed to (NewsYemen) that hospitals and medical centers receive hundreds of suspected cases of Coronavirus daily, the global pandemic that continues to spread, and has caused the death of more than 1.5 million people, and the infection of more than 65 million others in the world.

The sources indicated that most of the sick cases in Sanaa and the neighboring governorates show a fever, cough and headache, and suffer from sore throats, as well as a loss of the sense of smell and taste, referring to other illnesses that do not show symptoms.

According to the World Health Organization, the most common symptoms of Covid-19 are fever, dry cough and fatigue, while other less common symptoms include loss of taste or smell, pains and aches, headache, sore throat, nasal congestion, red eyes, diarrhea, and rashes.

Workers in the health sector in Sanaa fear that the outbreak of the epidemic will expand again in light of the lack of preventive precautions such as social distancing, closing gathering places, and wearing masks, since the announcement of the easing of precautionary restrictions imposed on wedding halls, restaurants, cafeterias, public parks, sports stadiums, and traditional and steam baths in last July.

The World Health Organization says that the risks of contracting Covid-19 increase in crowded places that lack good ventilation, and where infected people spend long periods of time together in close proximity to each other.

Contrary to the teachings of the World Health Organization, the Houthi militia organizes events and gatherings in Sanaa and neighboring governorates from time to time, without commitment to the simplest preventive measures in place globally to confront Covid-19 and limit its spread.

The Houthi militia in Sanaa, when it was announced last May, stopped recording only four cases of infection, in what is considered a media secret, while human rights organizations and activists monitored the deaths of hundreds of people affected by the Corona virus, including doctors and health sector workers.

Speaking to (NewsYemen), medical sources in Sanaa believe that "the failure to disclose information and details of the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 since its emergence and in every wave of it causes its spread to expand, and thus the number of its victims increases."

In a related context, the World Health Organization has warned against any laxity in precautionary measures in the face of the emerging corona virus, which is spreading at a rapid pace globally, despite the optimism raised by reaching vaccines.

WHO experts called for the vigil not to be reduced due to the optimism that the vaccines had raised.  The Director of the Emergency Health Cases Program at the organization Mike Ryan stressed that "vaccines do not mean zero Covid," calling on "people to continue to make efforts."
