Aden, NewsYemen:

The faculty members and employees of Amran University decided to conduct a general strike from academic work, in protest at the failure of the Houthi militia authorities to respond to their demands to disburse their salaries, which had been suspended for five years.

In a statement reviewed by NewsYemen, faculty members and employees set the beginning of the new academic year 2020/2021 (will start at the end of this December), as a date to stop academic work at Amran University.

The academics said that the move comes due to the suspension of their salaries for five years, and as a result of the material and psychological damage they suffered, pointing out that they are unable to provide a living for their children.

They added, in their statement, that the Houthi government assigns double standards, and disburses salaries to many revenue and non-revenue bodies on a monthly basis, whether full or half-salary, while academics and employees face slow death without any concern for their suffering, or even equating them with the rest of the bodies that dispose of their salaries. .
