Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The gas crisis in Taiz Governorate has been repeatedly renewed amid a crazy increase in its prices, which reached more than 5 thousand riyals per cylinder, amid accusations against the gas company branch of fabricating the crisis.

According to residents, the crisis coincides with the revival of black markets to sell gas and the opening of new filling stations, which are stations for leaders with ties to the de facto authority, in a step similar to what the Houthi militia is doing in their areas of control.

For a long time residents have complained about the difficulty of obtaining domestic gas cylinders; As a result of continuing to control the distribution of cylinders through the district leaders, in addition to selling it on the black market.

The crisis appears from time to time and disappears from official stores for sale, while they are sold on the black market at a price of up to 6 thousand riyals.

The stores owners accuse the gas company branch, which is under the control of the Popular Mobilization Militia, of tampering with the quotas set for them.

Abdullah Al-Sharabi says that many people have had to buy an emergency gas cylinder from the black market, or from filling stations spread in the city, at a price of up to 6 thousand riyals.

The crisis is repeated every month amid the silence of the gas company branch, amid demands by the owners of gas fairs and the people to disclose who is behind the fabrication of these crises, and the exhaustion of people.

They said that the fabricated crisis is similar to what the Houthi militia is doing in the areas under its control, with the aim of reaping huge money from the sale on the black market.

Store owners revealed that the de facto authority had opened new exhibitions affiliated with it, and spent large shares of the previously approved exhibitions ’share with the aim of selling them on the black market and forcing citizens to buy at double prices in such difficult circumstances.

Shop owners revealed that the de-facto authority had opened new showrooms affiliated with it and had spent large shares of the previously approved stores' share in order to sell them on the black market and force citizens to buy at double prices in such difficult circumstances.

For their part, district leaders said to a number of residential neighborhoods and agents that sell household gas cylinders to NewsYemen that only 400 cylinders reach each gas sales agent in the city every week, which is an insufficient share in light of the overcrowding in the city.

In the context, a source in the Taiz Gas Company told NewsYemen that the number of cylinders that feed the city of Taiz daily with domestic gas varies according to its availability, and can be estimated at eight thousand cylinders, referring to an increase in the opening of gas showrooms, which forced them to reduce the quotas.

He also justified what he described as supply bottlenecks in some cases because of obstacles caused by the roads connecting to the city.
