Aden, NewsYemen:

Save the Children International said that the bloody attack that killed 11 civilians, including 4 children, on Sunday, after Iranian artillery shells landed on homes in the southern city of Hodeidah, western Yemen, came just two weeks before the second anniversary of the Sweden agreement.

It explained, in a statement, on Monday, that despite the ceasefire agreed in Hodeidah, the coastal governorate is still witnessing the highest level of direct impact on civilians, as 620 casualties were recorded in the first nine months of this year.

The country director for the international organization in Yemen, Xavier Joubert, said the loss of four children yesterday proves that no progress has been made in the efforts for sustainable peace.

He pointed to the significance of the attack that it came just two weeks before the second anniversary of the Stockholm Agreement, which appeared to be a political breakthrough in the peace process.

He added, "It is horrific to see more and more children losing their lives in their homes, where they are supposed to feel safe, play and study.

The organization called on all parties to the conflict, including the international powers feeding this crisis, to do everything in their power to ensure the protection of children and their families, respect the ceasefire and return to the negotiating table.
