A large amount of crude oil leaked to the surface of the earth in the Hadhramaut Valley, after a hole in one of the tanks of Calvalley Petroleum Company, in the ninth sector, according to an official source told "NewsYemen".

The percentage of crude oil leaked to the surface of the earth amounted to about (100 barrels) from the reservoir of the ninth sector of the company in the district of Huraida, west of Wadi Hadhramaut, and the latest damage to the environment may extend in the future.

In the context, a committee comprising the general directors of the Directorate of Huraida, the Office of Oil, Minerals, Water Resources and Agriculture and the Public Authority for Environmental Protection in Hadhramaut Valley stood on the treatments for oil leakage and the damage that crude oil will cause to the environment and people, and developed solutions to raise the soil adjacent to the reservoir and replace it with new soil.

The Hadhramaut Governorate Undersecretary for Valley and Desert Affairs issued a decision to form the committee based on a letter to the Director General of the Huraida Directorate to visit the site and file a report on the damages.

It is noteworthy that the Calvalley Company stopped the operations of extracting and producing oil from the wells of Hadhramaut Valley at the end of the year 2014, and returned to work in September of the year 2018, producing 3 thousand and 200 barrels per day.
