Aden, NewsYemen:

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sheikh Sultan al-Burkani, called, on Monday, the European Union, to adopt clear positions on the practices of the Houthi militia, including the recent military escalation in the Hodeidah governorate in western Yemen.

This came during his meeting with the European Union ambassador to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

The meeting discussed a number of issues related to developments in the situation in Yemen, the most important of which is the recent escalation of the Houthi militia in the "Al-Duraihimi" district on the western coast.

Al-Burkani and the European Union ambassador discussed the Riyadh Agreement and ways to implement it, as well as the battles taking place in some areas of the Marib and Al-Jawf governorates.

During the meeting, the Speaker of Parliament clarified the Houthi militia’s moves to thwart the peace process, through its lack of commitment to the initiatives that have been put forward since the beginning of the confrontations, and its repeated attacks on citizens.

For his part, the European Union ambassador expressed his rejection of the continuation of bloodshed, armed confrontations, and overriding agreements through daily escalation.

He stressed that the European Union countries work within the framework of the international community to support the efforts of the UN envoy, and the peace options on offer to end the suffering of the Yemenis as soon as possible, and to preserve the unity, security and stability of Yemen.
