Aden, NewsYemen:

The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm, stipulated stopping the operations of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia in Yemen, in order to reach a political settlement of the six-year-old crisis.

This came during closed talks held by Hisham Sharaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the unrecognized Houthi government, via a video link, with Iran's Assistant Foreign Minister for Special Issues, Ali Asghar Hajji.

The "Saba" agency, spokeswoman for the Houthis, stated that the talks touched on aspects related to supporting the efforts and efforts made by the United Nations to reach a sustainable political settlement in Yemen.

According to the agency, Sharaf stated in the meeting that "the basic step of the political settlement is to stop what he called" aggression "(the Arab coalition operations) and to lift the siege.

He stated that the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister affirmed "his country's support for peace efforts in Yemen and its rejection of any military action."

The Iranian official added that his country stands with more than one friendly country to lay down a peace plan in Yemen, based on stopping the war, lifting the siege and starting peace talks that include all Yemeni parties and the coalition countries."
