Aden, NewsYemen:

A human rights organization revealed that the courts under the control of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, have issued more than 200 death sentences against political and civilian opponents, including four journalists in cases of a political nature.

SAM Organization for Rights and Freedoms, in a statement on the occasion of the International Day Against the Death Penalty, which falls on the tenth of October of each year, said that by monitoring and following up these rulings, it became clear that they violated many fair trial guarantees, the most important of which is the lack of access to actual legal representation during arrest, detention, trial and post-trial  .

The organization confirmed that there are more than 50 civilians in absurd trials before an absurd and unnatural judiciary, whose rulings are prepared in advance and lack the simplest legal guarantees.

The organization called for the judiciary to be liberated from the domination of the Houthi militia’s authority, which has lost the judiciary the most important conditions of "independence and integrity."

The organization also called for the respect and implementation of fair trial guarantees without discrimination, so that no one is unjustly and arbitrarily deprived of his life, and called for the suspension of all death sentences in political cases.
