Mocha, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

Teachers in Yemen celebrated their International Day, which falls on the fifth of October of each year, amid harsh living conditions, and it is an occasion to recall the placement of dozens of teachers in Mocha who have been working without pay for a decade.

There are 286 volunteer teachers working in Mocha who have been waiting for a job for years, and some of them have completed their tenth year without pay.

One of the teachers told NewsYemen that the Mocha teachers were deprived of their job and any assistance, including aid provided by UNICEF to teachers in other cities.

The teacher, who teaches first grades, confirmed that she and her classmates had not received any sums for years, except for a one-time encouragement from the director of the directorate.

And she demanded that a solution be found for half of the teaching staff in Mokha, explaining that the volunteer teachers cover 50 percent of the deficit suffered by the educational staff in the district.

The hope of volunteers who work in place of teachers displaced from the city and did not return to it, or to cover the shortage as a result of opening new classes to increase the number of students, concentrated in obtaining a government job in the future, but the duration of the war and agreements that prolonged their life without leading to a final settlement kept teachers Mocha has no wages or jobs.

During the previous years, which have roots since 2011, the date of the demolition of the pillars of the state, the educational process has been broken by the tremors that occurred as a result of what happened and the destruction of the militia war that followed.

Without voluntary work, a number of schools in Mocha will cease to function, as the proportion of volunteer teachers constitutes more than 50 percent of the educational staff.

The suspension of employment in the education sector caused a large shortage of teaching staff for each school, and school principals found no alternative except for girls who declared their desire to work for free while awaiting government employment.

But working for long years without motivation, some of them become frustrated that getting a job sacrificed years of free work has become difficult to achieve.

The fifth of October, which is celebrated as Teacher's Day, is an opportunity to remind the conditions of Yemeni teachers and the difficult circumstances in which they work in their vicinity.

In Mocha, some of the tweeters took advantage of the occasion to remind the first teachers who had contributions in producing educational generations in the district.
