Aden, NewsYemen:

The director of the office of the UN envoy to Yemen in Aden, Marwan Ezzat Al-Ali, affirmed that the international community views with satisfaction the great effort made so far by the local authority in Aden and the rapid positive results that have been achieved so far.

Al-Ali pointed out that the UN envoy’s office extracted the general popular satisfaction in Aden from the positive reactions to the change decisions that were taken on a national rather than political basis.

This came during his meeting on Tuesday, with the governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, who was briefed by the governor on the efforts of the local authority in the capital to address many of the problems resulting from the absence of a caretaker government and the delay in forming the new government.

The governor pointed out that most of the facilities and institutions concerned with providing services to citizens are central institutions, and solving their problems is the responsibility of the government, but in the absence of the government, the local authority bore the burden of those problems that exceed the capabilities of the governorate.

For his part, the director of the UN envoy’s office expressed the international community’s satisfaction with the decision to appoint the governor, stressing that the decision is one of the advantages of the Riyadh agreement.

Lamlas and Al-Ali discussed a number of issues related to the efforts of the UN envoy in Yemen and ways to activate them in order to ensure the achievement of tangible results, and they also touched on what the negotiation process has reached in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, expecting the near breakthrough of matters there and their coming to an end and the announcement of the formation of a parity government.

The meeting was attended by the political advisor in the UN envoy’s office, Fadi Al-Mawashi, and the governorate’s first agent, Mohamed Nasr Shadhly.
