Aden, NewsYemen:

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that the recent escalation of fighting in Marib led to the displacement of more than 8,000 people during the month of September alone, bringing the number of displaced people to the governorate since the beginning of this year to 70,000.

The organization stated, in a statement, that the increasing number of IDPs living in Marib has increased pressure on basic services, and IDPs in Marib face "many challenges and their needs are high."

The statement emphasized that the water, sanitation and hygiene programs it provides in Marib are made possible through the support provided by the European Union for civil protection and humanitarian aid, the Office of Humanitarian Affairs of the United States Agency for International Development, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the State of Kuwait.

The city of Marib is densely populated, and many displaced people have no choice but to take refuge in shelters with squalid conditions, which makes families in particular need of shelter, water, sanitation services and food, according to the organization.
