Saudi, Yemeni and UN sources revealed a meeting between the governor of the Central Bank of the Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, and the governor of the Swiss National Bank, Thomas Jordan, on Monday, in Geneva, in a new international complicity that brought him easy from Sanaa to Geneva, according to Al-Ayyam newspaper.
The newspaper quoted seven identical sources, that Hashem Ismail Ali Ahmed Al-Moayad, who was appointed by the Houthis as governor of the Central Bank in Sanaa, met the governor of the Swiss National Bank, Thomas Jordan, in an informal meeting that was coordinated under the auspices of the office of the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.
Another source in the central bank in Sanaa said that Al-Moayad went to Switzerland on a mission to retrieve money deposited in Switzerland to account for Yemeni deposits at the central bank, and that the Swiss accepted to meet him, because he holds the secret codes for the accounts of Yemeni deposits in Switzerland.
Al-Moayad had arrived in Switzerland with the Houthi delegation for the negotiations of the prisoner exchange agreement, as part of the upcoming Houthi delegation to Geneva, although it has nothing to do with the meetings held in Geneva.
