Sources in the Ministry of Information, which is controlled by the Houthi militias, said that investigations are taking place amid a strict secrecy regarding the issue of corruption related to hosting official satellite channels by the leadership of the Radio and Television Corporation.
The sources added: The investigation launched by the Minister of Militia Information, Deifallah Al-Shami, came after the Houthi leaders raised corruption practiced by the leadership of the General Radio and Television Corporation and its director Ahmed Rasea, and threatened them to disclose information and documents related to corruption operations through the media.
According to the sources, the General Director of the Radio and Television Foundation, the leading Houthi Ahmad Rasea, is accused of stealing over a million and a half million dollars from the hosting allocations paid by the Foundation to the satellite broadcasting companies that are responsible for broadcasting the official channels controlled by the militias in Sana'a, in addition to losing more than fifty million Yemeni riyals from the allocations of satellite channels, and the lack of knowledge of the disbursements that Rasea is accused of seizing.
The sources said: Ahmed Rasea, who is accused of corruption and stealing that amount, has strong support and support from his uncle, the Houthi leader Ahmed Hamed, who is director of the Office of the President of the Republic and who was behind the appointment of Rasea in this position and still insists on his stay in it despite repeated attempts made Houthi media leaders to deport him because of his corruption.
While the sources say that, despite the directives of the Houthi Minister of Information, Dhaifallah Al-Shami, to open an investigation on Rasea’s corruption and his keenness to be carried out in complete secrecy, it confirms that this investigation will not go out of two ways. Whoever charges corruption, and in both cases, his uncle, the Houthi leader Ahmed Hamed, will be the owner of the upper hand in directing the course of the investigation and the results that will follow.
The Radio and Television Corporation, which is under the control of the militias, is responsible for overseeing the work of the official radio and television institutions, and controls the exchange of funds and their allocations independently, despite their dependence on the administrative and financial structure of the Ministry of Information in the government.
