Al-Durahimi , Newsyemen, Ahmed Dawood:

The youth and sports office in Hodeidah Governorate is preparing to revive the date-harvest festival, which is held annually in coastal districts.

The Director General of the Youth and Sports Bureau, Abdo Khamisi Kulaib, told Newsyemen that the festival is held annually as a popular tradition to celebrate the dates, in which the districts of the coast are known in the governorate.

He added, a number of Al-Tihami heritage and popular teams will revive it in conjunction with the season harvesting dates, which takes place at the end of the annual harvest season in Al-Durahimi, without specifying a specific date for that celebration.

He pointed out that a number of Tihama regions, including Al-Durahimi, Al-Jah, Al-Majiles, Al-Zaraneeq and Al-Jahba tribes, are participating in reviving their popular heritage every year at the beginning of harvesting the dates.

Tribes revive the festival by jumping from camels, folklore and heritage games.

The festival will be accompanied by a commitment to preventive measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, in compliance with the directives of the local authority.
