The United Nations has warned that obfuscation or the absence of correct information about the new Corona pandemic in Yemen will affect the international community's assessment of the seriousness of the situation and provide urgent assistance to cope with it.

This came in the words of the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande, during a virtual meeting held on Friday evening with the President of the Yemeni government, Dr. Moeen Abdulmalik, with the participation of the UN envoy, Martin Griffiths, and the representative of the World Health Organization, Altaf Musani, to discuss ways of coordination to face the Corona pandemic in Yemen.

During the meeting, the prospects for supporting the health sector and protecting health workers to confront the pandemic, including doctors, nurses, volunteers and workers, were discussed, as well as coordinating efforts to educate the community and transparency in dealing with the pandemic, according to the Yemeni news agency Saba affiliated to the legitimacy.

Grande noted that the Corona pandemic began to spread in Yemen quickly, noting the transparency of the Yemeni government in announcing the affected cases, which helps in taking the necessary measures.

At the same time, she criticized the blackout about the spread of the epidemic, in reference to what the Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen - are practicing in its areas of control, warning that "this will affect the aid provided to Yemen."

The UN envoy clarified on his part that his briefing to the UN Security Council on Thursday was comprehensive and its messages are clear, that dealing with the humanitarian crisis and the dangers of the spread of the Corona pandemic in Yemen needs an assistive political situation ... reiterating the need to quickly reach a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen, and to achieve political stability.

The head of the legitimate government warned of the dangerous conditions.

He said that "the extent of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic is unknown on the ground, and the policy pursued by the Houthi revolutionary militia to obfuscate and mislead in relation to the pandemic contributes to the disregard of the pandemic and the lack of practical measures to confront it."

Abdulmalik pointed out that the goal of the Houthis from obfuscation is to preserve the sources of recruitment and the continued push of more people to the fronts, while the pandemic is able in various regions of the Republic and we will find ourselves in front of a real disaster
