A prisoner exchange deal between the Legitimate forces and the Southern Transitional Council forces in Abyan Governorate, south of Yemen, failed.
Local sources said that a prisoner exchange deal between the two parties was stalled due to the commitment of the forces affiliated with the legitimate government to release two elements accused of links to al-Qaeda.
The sources added that the legitimate forces and the Islah party were to release prisoners from Abyan governorate who came from Shakra and Al-Muhafid districts.
According to the sources, the Southern Transitional Council forces refused to exchange prisoners of war for two elements from al-Qaeda, who were arrested on criminal charges, and as a result, the deal stalled.
