The Houthi Militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, directed the Director General of the Directorate of Kahlan in the northwestern Hajjah Governorate, to take firm measures against citizens in the region who attend artists to celebrate weddings.

According to an official document that contained the signature of seven leaders of the Houthi militia, in Hajjah, including the Secretary General of the provincial council, the district director of Kahlan Affar was obligated to "end this phenomenon."

Houthi leaders considered bringing citizens, "Arj" artists and singers to celebrate weddings  "a disrespect to the blood of the martyrs," according to the document.

The Houthi leadership said that it had contacted some families who had hired singers and performers at wedding parties, and had advised them, but they did not receive a response.

They stressed "the solution of this phenomenon in observance and loyalty to the blood of the martyrs," referring to the use of force to prevent singing at weddings.
