Local sources reported, on Tuesday, that the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, is launching an intensive artillery shelling in the "Thura" front, located between the governorates of Abyan and Al Bayda.

The Houthi escalation came in the "Thura" front, which is adjacent to the Lauder District in Abyan Governorate, south of Yemen, after bringing in major military reinforcements to the region, via the adjacent Al-Bayda governorate.

The sources said that the southern resistance had responded to an attack by the Houthis in "Thura", to retaliate the militia with heavy bombardment of populated areas using tanks and artillery shells, and Katyusha rocket launchers.

Taha Hussein, leader of the "Thura" front, had called for a few days ago to reinforce the southern forces stationed in the front, after the Houthi militia had sent heavily into the area.
