Fishermen said on Saturday that tribal gunmen belonging to a powerful local figure, prevented them from practicing the fishing profession in the Yakhtl region, a coastal village of Mocha.

They added to Newsyemen, they were surprised that gunmen from the village of Yakhtal prevented them from hunting at gunpoint.

The motives of the gunmen are not yet known, but a fisherman said that this is linked to competition for fishing in the disturbance, as the fishermen prefer that other fishermen from other areas of Mocha not participate in fishing in this coastal village overlooking the sea.

He added that the lack of fish availability at these times of the year created a competition between the fishermen, as each party considered their right to fish without the others.

The presence of fish on the beaches of Al-Mokha and other coastal beaches decreases during the winter, as cold weather and fluctuations in waves cause fish to dive deep, which reduces the chances of fishermen obtaining abundant fishing.

The National Resistance began arranging the fishing activity in the waters near the port, and it also equipped a center for fish landing, but the fishing did not stop in the brain and the fishermen continued fishing in disturbing and Wahaja.
