A massive fire broke out, on Saturday, as a result of the explosion of a gas locomotive at a customs checkpoint created by the Houthi militias in the Directorate of Mines in Al-Bayda Governorate, central Yemen, according to a local source and eyewitnesses.

As a result of the fire, seven civilians were injured, in addition to losses of property and houses of the residents of the area.

A local source told "NewsYemen" that a gas trailer overturned near the customs point created by the Houthis in the Afar region, which led to its explosion and a massive fire in the area of the explosion.

It added that the fire spread to neighboring houses, which resulted in the injury of 7 citizens, three of them in critical condition, in addition to burning two houses, 6 cars, and the death of a number of livestock.

The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, introduced the Afar customs point in August 2017 with the aim of imposing customs on goods that had previously been paid customs duties at the land and sea ports of the country.

It also uses the port located on the Ma'rib - Al Bayda road to impose illegal royalties on trucks transporting oil derivatives, causing the exacerbation of the oil crisis in Sana'a and the rest of its areas of control, with the aim of reviving the black market that generates significant financial resources.
