On Tuesday, the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, began a kidnapping campaign against leaders of the Popular Congress Party, in the northwestern province of Hajjah, according to a local source.

The source said that dozens of Houthi gunmen stormed the homes of Colonel Yahya Dahshouche, former director of civil affairs, and Nabeel Soufan, deputy director general of the Education Office in Hajjah governorate.

It pointed out that the Houthi militia had alleged that the two kidnapped conference leaders were linked to terrorist cells, to justify the crime of raiding and kidnapping their homes.

It explained that the raids of “Dahshouche and Soufan” homes were carried out by armed groups that came from Sana'a to Hajjah on board three crews for this purpose, as they raided the two houses, tampered with their contents, and kidnapped the leaders in front of their children and women.

The source stated that the Houthi militia took the kidnapped to unknown destinations, amid a state of terror among women and children, stressing that the families of the kidnapped people have not known about their fate until now.

Activists affirmed that the dangerous Houthi militia's escalation in Hajjah Governorate could be exacerbated by an angry response if it did not stop these practices.
