The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, has raided a number of women's clothing stores and women's sewing factories, in Sanaa, removing waist belts attached to "Abayas" and burning them.

Witnesses said that the Houthi militia members stormed a number of women's sewing shops in a huge street in the center of Sanaa to search for abayas with a waist belt, and burned quantities of them.

According to witnesses, those elements removed the waist belts and laces that are added to the women's abayas, especially modern models, and burned them in the street, while chanting the Khomeinist slogan.

They added that the militia issued warnings to owners of shops and sewing factories against selling women's abayas, which were worn with fabric belts, as they came "within the soft war to corrupt the nation's daughters."

This Houthi move, despite its strangeness and proximity to ISIS practices, was not a surprise to many activists on the communication platforms, compared to previous practices in terms of closing women's cafes and removing advertising plastic dolls from the storefront and also the primitive and extremist religious discourse that the Houthis received, including a leader Militia Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.
