The Lebanese authorities recently approved the immediate entry of Yemeni diplomatic passport holders into their territory, Ambassador Mustafa Ahmed al-Nu'man said in a blog post on his Twitter account, followed by the editor of "Newsmen".

The Lebanese actions were the result of irregularities that have recently resulted in the issuance of the Yemeni diplomatic passport and its use for purposes other than those allocated to it by Yemeni law and the diplomatic protocol in general.

Yemeni diplomatic passports began to be tampered with in 2016, when the diplomatic passport was sold at an average price of SAR 10,000.

More recently, Yemeni diplomatic passports have been associated with a notorious reputation among the relevant international authorities, due to the tampering practiced by the government of interim President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the conversion of diplomatic passports into a black market.

Yemeni Law No. 63 of August 1991 specified persons eligible for diplomatic passport, but Hadi's government does not abide by the limits of the law due to its corruption situation.

The most notable violations monitored were the granting of such passports to persons not covered by the diplomatic passport law, and the identification of occupations unrelated to diplomacy within passports, such as :"Sheikh - businessman"."

The diplomatic passport crisis is part of yemen's diplomatic crisis, with more than 300 diplomats recently appointed, most of them not related to diplomatic work but appointments according to regional and family influence.

In December, Egyptian authorities took some measures on Yemeni diplomatic passports, including banning passports issued after 2015.
