Dozens of cases of dengue fever in Nate’

The Nate’ district of Al-Bayda governorate recorded the second death in Dengue fever, days after the local authorities declared a state of emergency due to dozens of people being infected with the epidemic in the district.

Local sources said that a 5-year-old boy died on Friday in the village of Adamah Oslah Mosour, due to a dengue fever.

The Director of the Directorate, Massad Al-Salahi, appealed to the humanitarian organizations represented by the World Health Organization and UNICEF to quickly intervene to combat dengue fever currently spreading in the Directorate, confirming the death of two cases.

The director of the directorate attributed the increase in the number of cases of the disease to the large number of mosquitoes in the vicinity of Bayhan Shabwa, neighboring, hoping the speedy response to his appeal.

A source in the Rapid Response Team at the Directorate of Nate and formed by the provincial authorities, mentioned on Thursday, that data was collected for about 25 infected cases, as it was found that 5 new cases were infected during the same day. Medical examinations were performed in external laboratories for some cases that were previously transferred and which showed serious signs.

The local authority in the district of Nate announced the state of emergency, early last week, after registering one death and 30 cases of dengue fever, most of them are children.
