On Thursday, December 5, 2019, the forces of the security belt and the southern resistance responded to a violent attack by the Islah-based militia from Marib on the town of Ahwar in the southern province of Abyan.

A local source said that armed clashes erupted between the two parties, following an attack by the Muslim Brotherhood militia on the city of Ahwar, after mobilizing large armed groups aboard dozens of combat crews from the provinces of Marib and Shabwa.

According to sources, the southern forces managed to damage three crews of the Islah militia during the ongoing clashes, in the town of Ahwar, amid information about the killing of the deputy commander of the Popular Resistance in Ahwar Salem Awad al-Samhi.

Earlier on Thursday, the Brotherhood militia mobilized large military forces from Marib and Shabwa, to Abyan province, in a fresh attempt to invade the province and advance towards the city of Aden, in flagrant violation of the Saudi-sponsored Riyadh agreement.
