Armed clashes over illegal Qat taxes kill soldier, injure three civilians in Taiz city

A soldier was killed and three citizens injured by armed clashes between police forces and armed gang Sunday afternoon in a public market in Taiz city, central Yemen.
A security source said to Newsyemen that a security patrol clashed with an armed gang which the second was imposing illegal taxes on Qat seller in al-Qubah market in Taiz city.
The armed gang members fled to unknown destinations, according to the source.
Taiz markets have seen dozens of deaths and injuries in recent years due to conflicts among gangs belonging to Brotherhood leaders over managing markets, and collecting money under force of arms, estimated at more than three million Y.R a day.
