A regional expert specializing in the activity of armed groups expressed his concern about the movements of the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, and its recent military parades, saying that they threaten the efforts of the United Nations to end the war in Yemen, and stresses "the continuation of cooperation between Tehran and Sana'a", and the expansion of its propaganda campaigns to suppress the opposition in the north.  and recruiting children.

He added: "The Houthis took advantage of the UN-sponsored truce to suppress the opposition, redeploy their military weapons, and expand the scope of recruitment and training throughout the northern lands, through "military displays that showcase new missile capabilities and manpower."

He stressed that "the Houthis' military parade outside the coastal city of Hodeidah raised the greatest concern among observers, including the United Nations mission supervising the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement of 2018," pointing to the propaganda campaigns launched by the Houthis throughout the northern regions to show their military readiness.

Accordingly, regional expert Fernando Carvajal, in a report published by the British newspaper "The New Arab", believes that efforts to stop the escalation of the conflict in Yemen during the past five months have not achieved significant gains.

But he spoke of the leadership council's efforts to unite the competing factions in order to address the threats posed by the Houthis. At the same time, the Houthis are strengthening their capabilities and demonstrating their willingness to continue fighting.

Fernando, who served on the United Nations Security Council Panel of Experts on Yemen from April 2017 to March 2019 as an expert on armed groups and a regional expert, has nearly 20 years of fieldwork experience in Yemen, specializing in Yemeni politics and tribal relations.

The report, which he wrote, draws attention to the Houthi effort to militarize children, saying: “In early April, after signing an agreement with the United Nations to withdraw all child soldiers from the front lines, the Houthis launched a campaign of programs to recruit students of all ages.”

The regional expert confirms that the Houthis' military power displays raise concerns about the potential scope of the fighting when the truce ends, considering the events in Taiz a clear confirmation of the Houthis' complete disregard for the United Nations peace track, especially after their failure to comply with United Nations demands to lift the siege on the city of Taiz since April and their violations  Continuing to commit dozens of crimes against civilians inside the city.
