Report: Iranian intelligence dominates the telecommunications sector in Yemen

Documents published by the "Restore" initiative revealed Iranian intelligence interference in the communications sector in Yemen to enable the Houthi militia to fully control it and use it in the intelligence, investment and financial aspects.
The team of the "Restore Initiative" organization concerned with tracking Houthi crimes has prepared a "black list" of 57 leaders of the Houthi group and 6 companies, including two Iranian companies that exploit communications for investment, military and espionage.
According to the organization's report entitled "Communications...a tool of war not service", the Iranian interference focused dangerously and effectively in communications through the "sharing" project implemented by the Houthis and supervised by experts from "Alma" and "BRTel" companies affiliated with Tehran.
He explained that the project aims to achieve the dual goals of the Houthis and Iran, most notably raising the efficiency of the intelligence militia capabilities through espionage, increasing the percentage of profits from investment and controlling communications to supply the military treasury.
The report considered the entry of the "fourth generation" technology recently launched by Houthi companies as "an advanced means that enabled the militias to enhance their military and security capabilities in various aspects", under the supervision of communications experts from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
The Houthi group assigned an intelligence cell to act as a link between it and the Iranian intelligence, comprising: Muhammad Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi (Director of the Military Communications Department, General Supervisor of the Iranian-Houthi Partnership Program), Muhammad Nasir Ahmad Musaed (Director of the Department of Jihadi Communications of the Houthis) and Abdul Khaliq Ahmad Muhammad Hataba (Deputy Director of the Military Communications Department) and Muhammad Mohsen Hussein Al-Mutawakel (impersonating Muhammad Muhsin Al-Shahari) to be the main link between it and Iran.
The report stated that the Houthis and the Iranians held a number of meetings and direct and indirect contacts, in order to achieve the militia's investment, military and intelligence objectives from the communications sector in Yemen.
He revealed that the Houthi militia circumvented international decisions and sanctions that affected Saleh Misfir al-Shaer, the judicial guard and the right arm of the militia's financial resources, by empowering Abdullah Misfir al-Shaer's sister from the telecommunications sector through the Shibam Holding Company, which currently manages a group of Houthi investments, including the telecommunications sector.
The telecommunications sector constitutes one of the most important financial and logistical resources for the Houthi militia to continue its war against the Yemeni people, in addition to harnessing it in its crimes and violations against opponents, and using it to violate their sanctities and privacy by spying on their communications and monitoring their movements for the purpose of blackmailing them or targeting them with assassinations.
