Pompeo: We will prevent Iran from supplying the Houthis with weapons

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that "America will work to prevent Iran from providing the Houthis with weapons."
In his testimony before Congress, Pompeo said that "Iran is responsible for the destruction in the Middle East," and pledged to work "to extend the arms embargo imposed on Iran."
In the dossier on relations with Ankara, Pompeo revealed that Washington is considering "imposing sanctions on Turkey over the Russian S-400 missile deal."
On deteriorating relations with China after the exchange of the closure of two consulates and Pompeo's recent announcement to end the special status enjoyed by Hong Kong in trade, Pompeo stressed that China poses a threat, taking up the diplomatic efforts by Washington with a number of countries to curb the risks.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that "China committed violations in Hong Kong," noting that "Beijing is using the fifth generation spy network."
Trump stated that he discussed with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, all that was raised about allocating rewards for the killing of American soldiers in Afghanistan, explaining that he will not reveal intelligence information, nor will he reveal the content of US President Donald Trump's contacts and discussions with other presidents.

Pompeo testified at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing for the first time in 15 months, in a discussion of the State Department's annual budget request.
The Democrats on the Foreign Relations Committee issued a report this week that was highly critical of Pompeo's performance as foreign minister, and said it had harmed the ministry’s ability to carry out diplomatic missions by suspending jobs for months, treating veteran diplomats with negligence, and promoting a culture of revenge.
"This is not just about an attack on one of our federal institutions, but it is a disgrace to American values and leadership, and it endangers our national security," said Senator Bob Menendez, the commission's top Democrat.
